Movements

 

Movements, or the "Placement Plan", can be manually entered or system-generated.  A Placement Profile must be selected prior to generating placements. The placement profiles are created in the Placements node of BPA Profiles. Once the placements have been confirmed, the placements can be posted to create a new BIM/LIM entity. The placement plan will also be used in Projections to generate long range forecasts. When houses are not available for planning, Virtual Housing can be utilized.

 

Prior to creating placement plans, a Placement profile must be created. See: Profile Placements

Create a Manual Placement Schedule

Manual Placements are used to enter a new farm/house for the first time if the new farm/house is not part of entity history. If the system-generated placements are not being utilized, then the placement plan will need to be entered manually.

 

There are two section in the Placement Schedule:

General

  1. In LMTS>BPA>Planning, select Movements.
  2. In the Planned Movements main index, click the button.

 

  1. In the Select Profile dialog box, select the Placement Profile No from the drop -own menu. The list is derived from Placement Profiles.
  2. Click 'OK' and a new Placement Schedule screen will appear for the selected profile.
  3. In the Planned Movements Placement Schedule screen, click the button to add new lines.

 

  1. From Farm No, select the farm being used for the placement.
  2. Farm Name will populate based on the selected Farm No.
  3. Select the Entity Stage to indicate the stage that the entity is placed in.
  4. Transaction Entity No identifies the BIM/LIM entity. This can be entered manually or generated by the system. The Registry must be configured for system-generated entity numbers.
  5. From House No, select the house in which the entity is being placed.
  6. Pen No is an optional field to indicate the pen in which the entity will be placed.
  7. Select the Female Product & Breed to identify the product number and breed code of the females.
  8. Female Generation Code indicates the generation of the entity. This field will populate based on the product selected and will be one of: GGGP, GGP, GP, Pedigree, Parent or Layer.
  9. Female Product Name will populate based on the Female Product and Breed selected.
  10. Select the Male Product & Breed to identify the product number and breed code of the males.
  11. Male Generation Code indicates the generation of the entity. This field will populate based on the product selected and will be one of: GGGP, GGP, GP, Pedigree, Parent or Layer.
  12. Male Product Name will populate based on the Male Product and Breed selected.
  13. Select the Progeny Product & Breed to identify the product number and breed code of the product that is being produced from the entity at the farm.
  14. Progeny Generation Code indicates the generation of the entity. This field will populate based on the product selected and will be one of: GGGP, GGP, GP, Pedigree, Parent or Layer.
  15. Progeny Product Name will populate based on the Progeny Product and Breed selected.
  16. Enter the number of Females that will be placed in the farm/house.
  17. Enter the number of Males that will be placed in the farm/house.

 

  1. Enter the Date Placed/Hatched for the planned placement date. The date can be easily moved on the calendar if required.
  2. Date Cap displays the date that the entity will be capitalized. This field is system generated based on the registry settings.
  3. POL Date displays the date that the entity will start to lay. This field is system generated based on the registry settings, and can be overwritten as needed.
  4. Date Moved In displays the date that the entity was moved into the farm and entity stage. The system will generate this date based on the registry setting, and it can be overwritten as needed.
  5. Date Moved Out displays the date that the entity was moved out of the farm and entity stage. This field is System generated and can be overwritten as needed.
  6. Date Sold displays the date that the entity was sold to the processing plant. This field is system generated and can be overwritten as needed.
  1. Age defines the age at which the entity will be sold. This field is system generated.
  2. Molt Date indicates the date that the entity will begin the molt process. This field is only used if the entity is being molted.
  3. Select the Molt Flag if the entity is to be molted. The selected flag will identify the flock as a molted flock.
  4. Enter the Re-Lay Head to represent the number of females that will lay for the second cycle.
  5. Source Complex Entity No identifies the source of the lay entity (The brood entity suppling the lay entity).
  6. From Standard No, select the BIM Standard that has been assigned to the entity. This is used for projecting the entity.
  7. Alt Standard No allows the assignment of an additional standard to the entity for reporting.
  8. Notes is an optional text field used to enter additional information for the placement.
  9. Selecting the Void Flag will cancel the transaction.
  10. Creation Date indicates the date the transaction was created.
  11. Last Mod Date indicates the date the transaction was last modified.

 

 

Calendar

The BPA Placement tool uses a calendar function to easily view the planned placements. While in the calendar tab,  new placements can be created by selecting the desired date, then clicking  thebutton, and then clicking on the General tab to view the new record.  Existing placements can be easily moved by using the drag and drop function.

 

 

 

Create a System Generated Placement Schedule

There are two options for the system to create a placement schedule:  Plan Placements to Breed Targets, and Plan Placements to Full Capacity.

 

Plan Placements to Breed Targets (Pull Logic)

Plan Placements to Breed Targets was designed  to fill the houses as they are needed to meet demand or targets. When demand/targets are greater than available housing, the system creates Virtual Houses and continues placing houses until targets are meet. See: Virtual Housing.  

 

In order to use the Plan Placements to Breed Targets, several items must first be completed:

 

There are two components in planning placements to breed targets:

 

Create an Initial Placement Plan

Before the Plan Placement to Breed Targets can be created,  a base plan must be created first. To create the base placement plan, the first  step is to import. *Note: The Import is only done the first time a placement is created

  1. In the BPA Movements main index, click the Options button and select 'Import'.  

 

  1. A dialog box will appear to select profiles and dates for the import.


  2. Select the Placement Profile No that will be created. Placement profiles must first be created in: Profiles>Placements.

  3. Select the Farm Profile No that will be used in the creation of the new placement schedule. Farm profiles must first be set up in: Profiles>Farms.
    *Note: These two profiles must contain all of the breed/generation combos that exist within the date range for those entities that are on the farms in the farm profile.

  4. In the Min Date field, enter the beginning date that  will be used to import Source and Destination entities from BIM Transfers (Transfer date).

  5. Click 'OK' and the import will create a based placement schedule.

 

 

 

Plan a Placement to Breed Target

Future housing can be created once the base plan has been established.

 

  1. In the BPA Movements main index, click the Options button and select 'Plan Placements to Breed Targets'.  
  1. The  Plan Placements to Breed Targets dialog box will appear.

 

 

  1. In the Begin Date field, enter the date that production is needed. Flocks will be placed based upon peak production of the entities to meet the targeted projection.
  2. In the End Date field, enter the date production is no longer needed.
  3. Select the Projection Profile (created in Projections Profiles).

  4. Enter the Threshold as a percent allowance for the projections to project  over/under the target line.

  5. If the Molt flag is selected, the system will plan to automatically molt flocks. If the flag is not selected, the system will not plan to molt flocks.

  6. If the Split Farm flag is selected, the system will allow the farm to receive chicks on multiple dates

  7. If the Split House flag is selected, the system will allow the house to receive chicks on multiple dates.

  8.  Select the Plan Placement Start Basis to plan the housing schedule. If all the houses on the farms are to be filled before going to the next farm, select the 'Entire Farm' option. If houses are filled according to the first available, select the ' Individual House' option.

  9. Select the Flock Number Stage Mode to indicate how the entities will be identified at each stage.  There are two options:

  1. Select the Virtual Lay Farm. If Targets project more birds than there are houses, the Virtual Farm will allow the system to keep placing birds into virtual houses until the target is met. Virtual Farms must be set up in BIM.
  2. Select the Virtual Brood Farm. If Targets project more birds than there are houses, the Virtual Farm will allow the system to keep placing birds into virtual houses until the target is met. Virtual Farms must be set up in BIM.

  3. Select the Virtual Grow Farm. If Targets project more birds than there are houses, the Virtual Farm will allow the system to keep placing birds into virtual houses until the target is met. Virtual Farms must be set up in BIM.

  4. Click 'OK' and the placement schedule will be created.

 

Plan Placements to Full Capacity (Push Logic)

Plan Placements to Fill Capacity was designed  to fill the houses as they became available. The planning  is not done based on targets, but rather on how many egg/offspring  can be produced from the available housing.   

 

In order to use the Plan Placements to Breed Targets, several items must first be completed:

  1. The  Plan Placements to Full Capacity dialog box will appear.

 

 

  1. In the Begin Date field, enter the date that production is needed. Flocks will be placed based upon peak production of the entities to meet the targeted projection.
  2. In the End Date field, enter the date production is no longer needed.
  3. Select the Projection Profile (created in Projections Profiles).

  4.  Select the Plan Placement Start Basis to plan the housing schedule. If all the houses on the farms are to be filled before going to the next farm, select the 'Entire Farm' option. If houses are filled according to the first available, select the ' Individual House' option.

  5. Select the Flock Number Stage Mode to indicate how the entities will be identified at each stage.  There are two options:

  1. Click 'OK' and the placement schedule will be created.

 

 

Virtual Housing

When demand/targets are greater than available housing, the system can create Virtual Houses and continues placing entities until targets are meet.  Virtual House are set up in BIM. See: Farms

 

 

 

The Virtual Flag must be checked to identify the farm as a virtual farm. Only one virtual  farm for each entity stage is required (Brood, Grow and Lay).

 

At least one house is required for the virtual farm. No virtual identification is required at the house level. This is done when the house is linked to the Farm at creation. See: Houses   
*Note: The BPA Cycles tab must be mapped for the grow and lay houses.

 

When Plan placements to Breed Targets are generated, the virtual farms must be selected for each entity stage that will be used.  If the Virtual Farms are left empty, the system will place entities only to available farms. This can result in projections not meeting the targets.
