products

There are several factors that can be defined by product. The factors entered in Product Profiles can be automatically calculated or manually entered and locked so that they cannot be updated in the future automatically. The profile contains factors for weight, feed conversion and mortality. These values can be entered on a performance curve or, alternatively, be entered on a seasonal basis.

Prior to creating a TPA Product, the following must be created:

The following options are outlined in the Products document:

  1. Enter a Weight Precision to define the weight increment for the weights that are picked up in each planning loop.
  2. Enter a Coefficient of Variation statistic to analyze the standard deviation.
  3. In the Eviscerated Carcass Yield field, enter the percentage of bird weight that remains after evisceration.

Turkeys

  1. In the First Move Age field, enter the number of days where the turkey is moved from brood to grow.

Performance Curves

The Performance Curves is the location where the daily factors for weight and mortality are entered. The factors can be calculated from historical data or manually entered. There is an option to lock the factors for each day to prevent future modification to calculated statistics.

  1. Age is system generated based on the setup in Age Assignments.
  2. Enter the projected average Weight that the poults should weigh each day. This value is entered in lbs or kgs depending on the unit of measure.

  3. In the Weight Gain Day field, enter an amount the chicks should gain each day. This value is entered in lbs or kgs depending on the unit of measure.

  4. Mortality % represents the daily mortality factor that will determine the number of head that will be available for processing.

  5. Select the Locked flag to prevent future modification to calculated statistics.

Options

There are two available additional options for performance curves:

Adjustment

At times, the performance curve  may need to be adjusted. The system provides the option to adjust the entire table or a specific age range. There are two methods to adjust the performance curve:

  1. In the Performance Curves tab, click the Options button and select 'Adjustment'.

  1. Enter the Operation percent]. To increase the weight by 5%, enter '5'. To decrease the weight by 5%, enter '-5'.

  2. In the Min Age field, enter a minimum age, in days, that is required to be adjusted. For example, if the weight is to be adjusted from age 13 days to 21 days, enter '13'.

  3. In the Max Age field, enter a maximum age, in days that is required to be adjusted. For example, if the weight is to be adjusted from age 13 days  to 21 days, enter '21'.

  4. Select the Adjustment Base. Available options are Percentage or Actual.

Load From Primary Breeder Standards
  1. In the Performance Curves tab, click the Options button and select 'Load From Primary Breeder Standards'. This will load the selected standards into the performance curve.

  1. Select the Standard File Name of the product.
  2. Select the Sex of the product.
  3. Select the unit of Measurement.
  4. Click 'OK' and the standards for the selected name will populate the Performance Curve.

Breed Factors

Breed Factors is an optional screen to enter any variables for the breeds assigned to the product. The breed factors are entered for the breed and there is an option to enter the factors based on the age of the parent flocks. There is also an option to lock the factors so that they will not be updated with the TPA calculation option.

  1. Select the button to create a new line.
  2. Select the Breed No that is to be factored.
  3. Enter the Weight adjustment factor If the weight just needs to be adjusted by breed.
  4. The Parent Group Age Factor 1-3 fields are used if the weight adjustments are required based on the age of the flock. Enter the weight adjustment in the appropriate age categories. For example, if the weight adjustment is to be 2% higher, enter '1.02'. If the weight adjustment is to be 2% lower, enter '.98'. Parent Group Age Factors are defined in Admin>System>Registry>Poultry Registry> Plants>Pmts Plant>BRPA Plant>General.
  5. Select the Locked flag to prevent future modification to calculated statistics.

Mortality

Mortality is an optional screen to enter monthly mortality to adjust processing head based on the seasonality mortality factor. There is an option to lock the factors so that the factors will not be adjusted when the TPA calculation option is generated.

  1. The Month fields represent the placement month of the flock, and are system generated.
  2. Enter the expected Percent Mortality based on the month that the flock was placed.
  3. Select the Locked flag to prevent future modification to calculated statistics.

Seasonal Factors

Feed conversion and placement density can be entered on a monthly basis to add a seasonality factor to the processing equation. The seasonal factor is based on the month that the birds are processed. The factors can be locked so that the values are not updated when the TPA calculation option is generated.

  1. The Month fields represent the placement month of the flock, and are system generated.
  2. Enter the +/- Weight adjustment for the required month. For example, if '1.02' is entered, the weight will be increased by 2%. Alternatively, if '0.98' is entered, then the weight will be decreased by 2%.
  3. Select the Locked flag to prevent future modification to calculated statistics.
  4. Optionally, a Density factor (+/-) can be entered to adjust the placement densities based on the seasonal changes. If '1.02' is entered, the density  will be increased by 2%. Alternatively, if '0.98' is entered, then the weight will be decreased by 2%.
